Truckers4RonPaul.org Newsletter
Eighteenth Issue
April 2008
Dear Aaron,

Welcome to the eighteenth issue of the Truckers4RonPaul.org newsletter.

After a month (or so)-long haitus, the newsletter is back!

Sevral of you have sent emails over the past few weeks asking about the newsletter and the website and whether I'd given up.

I haven't given up.  At first, the newsletter was put on hold because of the "dead time" during the Presidential elections when few primaries are being held and while Dr. Paul concentrated on his Texas seat.  Then time constraints and technical problems kept me from getting another newsletter published.

We're past all that now, so let's get back up-to-date and on track!

This newsletter will be rather large, as we play catch-up with some things.  But there's a lot going on.

The powers-that-be in the GOP (hey, that rhymes!) are afraid of the Ron Paul Revolution and are working hard to shut us down...

This means we can't give up until the fight is through!

So tell your friends about Ron Paul and keep on truckin'!

Sincerely,

Aaron Turpen

Protest!
Ron Paul Delegates Forced Out of Illegal Texas GOP Convention!

In an example of the many moves being made nation-wide to deny Ron Paul delegates their voices at Republican conventions, a county chairman ignores the rules, the law, and cries of protest from elected delegates as he announces a new list of (unelected) delegates for the county.

There is audio of the entire event, along with video text that cites the various rules and laws applicable - Texas GOP, Roberts Rules, etc.

The entire article, the video, and more can be found at this link:

content/view/1061/71/

In this audio, the GOP chairman pointedly refuses to acknowledge that anyone is asking for "point of order" (which under Robert's Rules of Order basically puts a procedure on "hold" until the point has been addressed)
and proceeds to take a vote anyway, over the protests of several present.

This blatant violation of the rules and of Texas law in order to replace delegates with unelected replacements shows how desperate the GOP is getting in their fight to put their golden boy, McCain, in the White House.

They're obviously very afraid of the Ron Paul Machine and his popularity with true Amerricans.

Subsidies for Mexican Trucks?

A website visitor asked the following question:

"I've been following the trucking story for some time now.

It seems as if the Bush regime is trying very hard to make life difficult for American truckers and trying to replace them with lower wage Mexican truckers.

Is it possible, in this time of astronomical fuel prices, that Mexican truckers are receving fuel subsidies under the table from either the Bush government, the Mexican government, or both?
--Eleanor W"

The Bush Regime is only part of the force behind the push to send trucking (just another American industry to export) to Mexico.  It's really the global power brokers (and their multi-national corporations) that are to blame.

The ssubsidies aren't direct, but they're definitely there.

The Trans-Texas Corridor (talked about in Issue #12) is the first step towards this bypassing of the American trucker in favor of outsourcing to Mexico.
Bribing the Vote

Ron Paul Can Win The Republican Nomination Just Like Abraham Lincoln

Convention Voting
by Jdayh

When a Candidate is running for the Presidency of the United States, even if they win the popular vote in the state primaries or caucuses, they do not automatically get the delegates as projected on the news.  These delegates have to be voted on first in the county, then state conventions.

Did you know that the delegates can actually vote to unbind their delegates that are bound by state rules and change their vote to another candidate of their choice?  Did you know that delegates can actually overturn the previous vote?  Did you know the delegates have control of the entire process?

The delegates are bound to McCain only for the first few rounds of voting at the convention.  You see, the national convention is, in and of itself, an actual election.  Only this time is the only election the really matters in determining who the party's nominee will be.  Some states send 'bound' delegates to the convention who must vote for the candidate who garnered the popular vote win. Those delegates must vote for that person whether or not they support him or her.  Each state has different rules, but the delegates are not bound forever.  If, for example, McCain fails to get 1191 of the delegates to vote for him in the first election round at the convention, some of the delegates (depending on what state you're from) are 'released' and then can vote for whomever they want in round two... some are still bound and are not released until round 2 or three.  I believe that after round three, however, that ALL delegates from ALL states are 'released' and can vote for the candidate of their choice and it doesn't even have to be a candidate who is even running!!

This is exactly how Abraham Lincoln was nominated. He went into the convention with virtually no delegates bound to him.  The front runner at the time was a divisive figure (much like McCain is today) and was unable to garner the requisite number of delegate votes in round one.  As delegates started to be released after each round, Lincoln garnered more and more votes until finally, after the 5th or 6th round, Lincoln received the requisite number of delegate votes and became the party's nominee.

Bottom line... you're state's primary election results mean next to nothing in the overall nomination process.
There's a Fine Line...
