It is not true
that the legislator has an absolute power over our persons and our
property since they pre-exist him, and his task is to surround them with
guarantees. It is not true that the function of the law is to
regulate our consciences, our ideas, our wills, our education, our
opinions, our work, our trade, our talents, our recreation.
Its function is to prevent the rights of one person from interfering
with rights of another in any of these matters.
- Frédéric
Bastiat, "The Law" [1850] Dear Aaron,
Welcome to the third issue of the Truckers4RonPaul.org
newsletter.
In the last issue, I forgot to mention one of my favorite places to go for news and information,
especially great commentary on Ron Paul and his campaign. That is Lew Rockwell's site, LewRockwell.com. Go check it out!
As a reminder, I post these newsletters
online a day or two after they publish in email. You'll find them on the Got Your Ears On? page.
So tell
your friends about Ron Paul and keep on truckin'!
Sincerely,
Aaron Turpen www.Truckers4RonPaul.org

A Little Story About MoneyFred
Thompson, Ron Paul and Hillary Clinton were walking down the street when they came to a homeless person.
Fred Thompson
handed the homeless person his business card and told him to come to his office for a job. He then took $20 out of his pocket
and gave it to the homeless person.
Hillary was very impressed, so when they came to another homeless person, she
decided to help. She walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office. She then reached
into Thompson's pocket and got out $20. She kept $15 for her administrative fees and gave the homeless person $5.
Ron Paul, upon seeing the actions of the other two, decided he could help in his own way as well. Coming upon another
homeless person, Paul stepped forward and said to the man, "I'm not going to give you any money or show you how to take money
from the public for your own welfare. Instead, I'm going to show you something better." With that, Paul picked
up a rag and went to the street. He offered to clean the wind- shield of a car parked on the corner for $1. The driver
paid and Paul cleaned the window. He then handed the rag to the homeless person. "Now you have something better than
a job. You have a small business!"
NOW do you understand the difference??

Convoy DVD Winner!
In the last issue, I offered to give away my copy of Convoy
on DVD to the first reader to donate $25 or more to Congressman Paul's campaign. Several of you came through nicely!
Thanks for those of you who participated!
Corey Phelps in Maryland was the winner, donating $50 to the campaign. In the true spirit of things,
though, Corey told me not to send him the DVD, but instead to sell it on eBay and give the proceeds to the campaign!
Awesome idea, Corey, and thanks for your support of both my website and the Ron Paul 2008 campaign!
So,
true to Corey's wishes, I've got the DVD for sale on eBay right now. You can click the picture above (or this link here) to go view the auction and even bid, if you'd like!
All of the proceeds from my eBay auctions go to support the Ron Paul campaign, so buy my stuff! :)

From
Ron Paul's Campaign HQ
Ron Paul on the campaign so far. by
Congressman Ron Paul
September 7, 2007
Has this been a hectic and encouraging
time! First we got almost 17% in the Texas straw poll, an event set-up
to represent the establishment, with very restrictive voting rules.
That 17% of the Republican hierarchy would support our views, after a
full day of pro-war propaganda, is good news. Then we won the more open
Maryland Republican straw poll with 28%. In both cases, as usual,
hard-working, well-organized volunteers made all the difference.
The Fox debate was a lot of fun as well. It's true that a few
of the network people are not exactly with us on foreign or domestic
policy (though one famous guy whispered to me that he is a
libertarian), but the audience-with lots of students from the
University of New Hampshire-was definitely fair and balanced, as their
enthusiastic reaction showed.
My opponents called for more war, more torture, more secret
prisons, more eavesdropping, more presidential power. Some seemed to
identify the government and the people as if they were one entity. But
you and I know that once the government moves beyond its very limited
constitutional mandate, it is an opponent of the people, a rip-off
operation that takes our money and our freedom and our social peace,
and gives us a mess of statist pottage in return.
The government failed miserably on 911 to protect us, despite
spending trillions. So the answer was supposed to be the giant,
socialist Department of Homeland Security, protecting you and me from
taking our toothpaste on the airplane. I was ridiculed for saying that
the airlines, which know best how to protect their property, should
have been allowed to arm their pilots. But then, you and I really
believe in the Second Amendment. It is not just a political slogan for
us.
When I discussed the blowback that came from us intervening on
the Arabian peninsula, Chris Wallace asked me if I wanted to follow the
marching orders of al-Qaeda. I responded that I wanted to follow the
marching orders of the Constitution, and not wage undeclared,
aggressive wars that cause us only trouble. This is a mystifying to
some, of course, but not to more and more Americans.
There was much talk of taxes, and a pledge not to raise rates.
But as usual, I was not allowed to discuss my lifelong pledge to
abolish the income tax. Just holding the line, when the government
takes such vast sums through an illegitimate
guilty-until-proven-innocent system, is hardly enough. We need to slash
taxes and spending if we are to have a future of prosperity for
ourselves and our families.
After the debate, many young people gathered around the stage
to discuss our ideas and ask questions about them (and to have me sign
their badges). My colleagues got no such response, and after a few
moments, "security" ordered me off the stage. Can't have any such
demonstration of interest in liberty.
But the young are with us, and so are Americans of every
stripe. Even party officials. When one of my opponent said it was OK to
lose elections through supporting the Iraq war, that set party people's
teeth on edge, and rightly so. The Republican party is shrinking. We
need new people. It's either our ideas or President Hillary, and more
and more people recognize it.
But the media, and everyone else, will be looking at
fundraising totals at the end of this month. They'll judge us by how we
do. And we need help to wage what we hope will be a full-scale,
50-state campaign. Please help me head into the next quarter fully
armed to do battle for freedom, peace and prosperity. Make your most
generous contribution https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/. This Revolution
is on the move, but it very much needs your support.
Sincerely, Ron

Paul's Inaugural Address
A hypothetical look at what Ron Paul's Inaugural
Address Might Look Like... by Johnny Kramer (http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig8/kramer1.html)
January 20, 2009 "My fellow citizens:
"On November 4th
of last year, you, the American people, overwhelmingly rejected the
erosion of liberty that has occurred in this country during the 20th Century and into the 21st.
"You rejected having your money stolen
through taxes and the inflationary fiat money of the government's central bank. "You rejected deficit spending.
"You rejected corporatism - the suppression of competition by
government, at the behest of politically-connected businesses and at
the expense of their competitors and of you, the consumer, under the
guise of 'consumer protection;' forced cartelization of industry; and
of businesses profiting through the theft of being financed by tax
dollars. "You rejected government healthcare.
"You rejected nation-building and wars of foreign aggression.
"You rejected the erosion of your civil liberties
under the guise of fighting
'terrorism.' "I
know this because I promised, backed by a 30-year record of honesty and
integrity, to do my best to put a stop to all of these things, and
more, if you elected me to serve as your president. You had a choice to
make that day: My agenda or the status quo. You chose my agenda. I
humbly thank you, and I hope to repay your confidence during the next
four years. The Budget "Last
year, the federal government spent $3 trillion, which is more money
than it spent from 1787 to 1900 combined, in 2007 dollars. "In
1963, John F. Kennedy was concerned when the budget hit $99 billion,
because he didn't want to be the first president with a $100 billion
budget. "In 1980, when Ronald Regan promised to get
government off of our backs, the federal budget was $500 billion.
"In 1990, just half a generation later, the federal budget had more than doubled, to more than $1 trillion.
"In 1995, when the Republicans took control of Congress, the federal
budget was $1.5 trillion.
"In 2000, leading into the previous administration,
the budget was $1.8 trillion.
"The budget last year was $3 trillion. "In short, the
budget has doubled in just 13 years. It's six times what it was in 1980, and 20 times what it was in 1960.
"What
happened in 1995, 1990, 1960, or even 1900, with a much smaller
government? The sky didn't fall, California didn't break off into the
ocean, and people weren't starving in the streets. "There's
no question that our standard of living today is much higher than in
previous years, but that's in spite of government spending and
regulation, not because of it. "Today,
thanks to the degree of capitalism, liberty and property rights that
remain in this country, the poor literally have a higher standard of
living than the richest person in the world did less than 150 years
ago. Consider that the wealthiest of the wealthy in the 19
th Century didn't have indoor plumbing, electricity,
central heating or air-conditioning, or life-saving antibiotics and
other life-saving medical technologies of 2009, much less cars,
airplanes, computers, televisions, telephones, cell phones, and on and
on. "Where did these things come from? Who makes life
better for you: The private sector, or government?
"The standard of living we would enjoy without government
boggles the mind.
"In contrast, what is the federal government giving us for our $3
trillion a year? It steals our money, through taxation and inflation,
as the price of earning a living and attempting to save some of it. It
tells us what we can buy and what we can sell, whom we can hire and
whom we can fire, and with whom we can associate and with whom we
cannot, as well as other impediments to the peaceful, voluntary
interaction that makes civilization possible. It runs up the prices of
the goods we buy and holds down the wages we earn. It keeps life-saving
medicines and other products from us under the guise of 'consumer
protection.' And that's just for starters; I don't have time today to
even begin detailing the ways in which government abuses us.
