Truckers4RonPaul.org Newsletter
First Issue
August 2007
Dear Aaron,

This is our first newsletter from Truckers4RonPaul.org.  Our plan is to keep you up-to-date on what is happening with the site, Ron's campaign, and political news relative to the transportation industry.

Hopefully, you'll find this newsletter both informative and entertaining.  If not, well, I did my best.  :)

Watch for our next issue, where we'll have special offer for Ron Paul supporters.  I'll give you a hint: it involves the movie "Convoy," a favorite of drivers everywhere!

So stay tuned, tell your friends, and keep on truckin'!

Sincerely,

Aaron Turpen

The next major event is the Texas Straw Poll for the Republican Party of Texas, which is Ron Paul's home state.

This is happening August 31 and September 1, so it's only a few weeks away.  This is usually one of the biggest GOP events in the West and Ron is expecting to do well.

You can find out more about this event by clicking here.

The Iowa Straw Poll was, by all accounts, a huge success and a lot of fun for the volunteers and voters who attended.  You can find out more about that in the article below.

Accounts of Ron Paul supporters who were there.

Des Moines Register columnist David Yepsin, who attended the straw poll in Ames, Iowa, said Paul's supporters "won the visibility wars."  That pretty much sums up the event, I think.  Mitt Romney won the votes, of course, but considering the he spent money like he's Paris Hilton on Friday night, that's not too surprising.

"A few people" [not connected with the official Ron Paul campaign] "were handing out flyers and encouraging Ron Paul supporters to board the free buses and gate tickets being given away by the Romney campaign," Susan Petrolski laughs in an email she sent me recently.  "A couple of others had the idea of 'wandering' in front of the other candidates' booths (wearing their Ron Paul 2008 t-shirts) whenever the news media came around."  Creativity is not hard to find amongst Paul supporters, that's for sure.

Chris Cillizza, a well-known online blogger, says:
"A fife and drum duo dressed in colonial attire led Rep. Ron Paul's (Texas) chanting supporters into the Hilton Coliseum moments ago.

Paul, who last ran for president in 1988 as a Libertarian, has -- without question -- the most vocal backers of any of the candidates actively participating in today's GOP straw poll.

He came to the stage to a huge and long-lasting cheer. 'Our campaign is all about freedom, prosperity and peace,' Paul said by way of introduction."

Of course, there is a lot of controversy around the Internet regarding the Diebold voting machines used at the Iowa event, with some of those machines even failing (as reported in national news).  An exit poll shows results quite different from those reported by the Iowa GOP.  The outcome of the event, of course, is not the votes themselves, since it's only a pre-pre-election event, but the energy and outreach garnered by being there.  Good job, everybody!

A Message From Ron Paul
Personal blog entry this week.
http://blog.ronpaul2008.com/

Phew, what a week -- what a great week in Iowa.  But first the important news:  my wife Carol had a heart-pacemaker implanted on Sunday, and she is doing much better.  She had a scare -- me too! -- and we are both so grateful for all your good wishes and prayers.  They worked.  And now she is safely back in Texas.

As I campaigned from morning to night in the August heat the last week, sometimes I'd get tired.  And then I'd think of all the supporters, working in Iowa and so many other states, who never stop no matter how tired they are.  Could I ever do less?  Never.  And I never will.

What could be more important than this movement of ours -- for freedom, peace, and prosperity?  We hold the future of our country, of our children and grandchildren, in our hands.  We can never stop, never flag.  And we never will.

One old friend compared this campaign to the tortoise, and our opponents to the hare, in the old Aesop's fable.  The hare was fast and flashy, but because of over-confidence and carelessness, he lost the race.  The tortoise kept going, step by steady step, taking nothing for granted, never giving in, never giving up, and winning the race.

In Iowa, we took some good steps forward in our race.  Considering the converts we made, the organization we brought forth, and the amount of money we spent as compared to the others, we are on the right trajectory.

And now, after I make sure Carol is well taken care of, I am off to New Hampshire, and campaigning in Texas for our straw poll on September 1 (http://www.texasgop.org/site/PageServer?pagename=Straw_Poll_Home).

This is our moment.  Not only because Americans are sick and tired of foreign wars, of the oppressive income tax, of growing restrictions on our precious liberties -- but because spending, deficits, and Federal Reserve troublemaking have brought on a global financial crisis that endangers all of us.  Now, of all times in our modern history, we need the message of sound money and economic freedom taught to all our people.  How desperately we need the truth.

This is a dangerous time for all we believe in.  Now, above all, we must spread the truths of the Constitution, of the rule of law, of life, of peace, of freedom, of an America that will truly be a city on the hill.

Join me in doing just that, with your most generous donation (https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/).  We have a country to win.

Sincerely,

Ron

Ron Paul Support Abounds
A huge amount of support online and now off for RP!
by Aaron Turpen
There's a huge amount of support for Ron Paul's 2008 Presidential campaign online.  No one disputes that.  But the kinds of support people are giving is amazing.  Here's a few of those who're going above and beyond:

http://ronpaul.squarespace.com/
Jeff Ready has built this website and is giving away Ron Paul for President bumper stickers.  Jeff is doing this out of his own pocket and demands no donations for these stickers.  Kudos, Jeff!

This is the Unofficial  Ron Paul Volunteer HQ.  They aren't really giving anything away, but they're definitely a central meeting point for thousands of Paul supporters online.  The latest numbers from the official campaign, by the way, place the number of volunteers at over 30,000!

While not free, they're so cheap they may as well be!  As you all know, I ordered my Truckers4Ronpaul.org business cards from VistaPrint online.  It's a great deal.  This guy, however, has a much more to-the-point "general duty" cards for everyone to use.  Plus they're a little cheaper than the cards I ordered.

And finally, I guess I've got to mention what we're doing at Truckers4RonPaul.org with the free DVD giveaway.  So far, as of this writing, we've sent out over forty free DVDs.  We had a flush of requests in the beginning and have fallen to an average of 1 or 2 per day.

If you have a great Ron Paul website or giveaway you'd like me to talk about here, please send it!
